Geronimo (1829–1909) was a prominent military leader and medicine man of the Bedonkohe band of the Chiricahua Apache. He is one of the most well-known Native American figures in U.S. history, renowned for his fierce resistance against Mexico and the United States as they encroached on Apache lands in the 19th century.
